The MAiRA M from NEURA Robotics is a cognitive cobot with a payload of 12–14 kg and a reach of 1,400 mm. It was developed for flexible automation tasks in industrial and production-related environments and combines classic industrial robotics with integrated artificial intelligence. With seven axes, it enables versatile motion sequences and is suitable for applications such as assembly, machine feeding, handling, quality inspection, or collaborative manufacturing processes with an extended workspace.
The MAiRA M is developed and manufactured entirely in Germany. From servo motors and encoders to sensor technology and software architecture, all central components are produced in-house. This integrated development and manufacturing concept enables coordinated system integration and consistent quality control across all system components.
As a cognitive robot, the MAiRA M has integrated multimodal perception. Sophisticated visual sensors enable real-time 3D object recognition and tracking, allowing objects to be reliably identified and processed with precise positioning even in complex scenarios. In addition, gesture control supports intuitive interaction and reduces the effort required for traditional programming.
In the audio domain, the robot is equipped with a 360° microphone array that allows direction-independent 3D speech recognition. Spoken commands can also be processed in industrial environments. The system supports multiple languages and enables voice-based operation in internationally oriented teams.
An integrated 6-DOF force-torque sensor in the flange detects forces and torques in six degrees of freedom. This enables precise hand guidance, controlled joining processes, and sensitive gripping tasks. The sensor data from vision, audio, and force measurement is processed internally by neural algorithms. This multimodal integration enables real-time situational understanding without a cloud connection. Through continuous optimization processes, including reinforcement learning, the MAiRA M can adapt its processes to changing requirements.
For safe collaboration with humans, the MAiRA M features contactless safe human detection. Within a radius of up to three meters, the system recognizes people and distinguishes them from other moving objects. Depending on the defined safety zone – full speed, reduced speed, or stop – the robot automatically adjusts its behavior. The safety design is TÜV-tested and meets the requirements of PL e / SIL 3.
Commissioning is designed for quick setup. Simplified configuration and visual user interfaces allow setup within a few hours. Advanced functions can be controlled via intuitive interfaces without programming knowledge. Thanks to its cognitive abilities and collaborative design, the MAiRA M can be flexibly integrated into new or existing automation concepts.
