The MAiRA S from NEURA Robotics is a cognitive cobot with a payload of 15–18 kg and a reach of 1,100 mm. It was developed for demanding automation tasks in industrial and production-related environments and combines classic robotics with integrated artificial intelligence. With seven axes, it enables flexible motion sequences and is suitable for applications such as assembly, handling, machine feeding, quality inspection, or flexible manufacturing processes.
The MAiRA S is developed and manufactured entirely in Germany. From servo motors and encoders to sensors and software, all central components are produced in-house. This integrated development and manufacturing concept enables a coordinated system architecture, short innovation cycles, and controlled quality assurance across all assemblies.
As a cognitive robot, the MAiRA S has integrated multimodal perception. Sophisticated visual sensors enable real-time 3D object recognition and tracking. This allows the robot to identify objects in complex environments and handle them with precise positioning. In addition, gesture control supports intuitive interaction, allowing processes to be set up or adjusted without traditional programming.
In terms of audio, the MAiRA S is equipped with a 360° microphone array that enables 3D speech recognition from different directions. Spoken commands can also be processed in industrial environments. The system supports multiple languages and allows voice-based operation in international teams.
An integrated 6-DOF force-torque sensor in the flange detects forces and torques in six degrees of freedom. This enables precise hand guidance, controlled joining processes, and sensitive gripping and assembly tasks. The sensory information from sight, hearing, and touch is processed directly in the device by neural algorithms. This device-internal multimodal integration enables real-time situational understanding without a cloud connection. Through continuous optimization processes, including reinforcement learning, the robot can adapt its operations to changing conditions.
For collaboration with humans, MAiRA S features contactless safe human detection. Within a radius of up to three meters, the system detects people and distinguishes them from other moving objects. Based on defined safety zones – full speed, reduced speed, or stop – the robot automatically adjusts its behavior. The safety design is TÜV-tested and meets the requirements of PL e / SIL 3.
Commissioning is designed for quick setup. Simplified configuration and visual user interfaces allow setup within a few hours. Advanced functions can be controlled via intuitive interfaces without programming knowledge. Thanks to its cognitive abilities, integrated sensor technology, and collaborative safety architecture, the MAiRA S can be used in a variety of industries and flexibly integrated into existing automation concepts.
