The MAiRA L from NEURA Robotics is a cognitive cobot with a payload of 9–11 kg and a reach of 1,600 mm. It was developed for flexible automation tasks with a large working area and combines classic industrial robotics with integrated artificial intelligence. With seven axes, it enables dynamic and precise motion sequences and is suitable for applications such as assembly, machine feeding, handling, quality assurance, or processes with an increased radius of action.
The MAiRA L is developed and manufactured entirely in Germany. From servo motors and encoders to sensors and software, all central components are designed and produced in-house. This integrated development and manufacturing concept ensures a coordinated system architecture and consistent quality control across all assemblies.
As a cognitive robot, the MAiRA L has multimodal perception. Sophisticated visual sensors enable real-time 3D object recognition and tracking, so that objects can be reliably identified and processed with precise positioning even in complex environments. Integrated gesture control allows processes to be set up and adjusted without traditional programming and supports intuitive interaction.
A 360° microphone array enables direction-independent 3D speech recognition, allowing spoken commands to be processed even in industrial environments. The system supports multiple languages and facilitates integration into international teams. In addition, an integrated 6-DOF force-torque sensor detects forces and torques in six degrees of freedom and supports precise hand guidance, joining processes, and sensitive gripping and assembly tasks.
The sensor information from vision, audio, and force measurement is processed internally by the device using neural algorithms. This multimodal integration enables real-time situational awareness without a cloud connection. With the help of continuous optimization processes, including reinforcement learning, MAiRA L can adapt its processes to changing requirements.
For safe collaboration with humans, MAiRA L features contactless safe human detection. Within a radius of up to three meters, the system recognizes people and distinguishes them from other moving objects. Depending on defined safety zones – full speed, reduced speed, or stop – the robot automatically adjusts its behavior. The safety design is TÜV-tested and meets the requirements of PL e / SIL 3.
Commissioning is designed for quick setup. Simplified configuration and visual user interfaces allow setup within a few hours. Advanced functions can be controlled without programming knowledge. Thanks to its cognitive abilities, extended workspace, and collaborative safety architecture, the MAiRA L can be flexibly integrated into various automation concepts.
