The SMC RMTA tool changer is an automatic tool changer for changing grippers and other end effectors on the robot. It connects the robot and tool side via an ISO 9409-1-compliant interface and is available in versions for 5, 10 or 20 kg working load. For collaborative robots, direct mounting is possible, which can eliminate the need for additional flanges depending on the design.

A locking or drop prevention mechanism keeps the connection closed even when the pressure drops and prevents unintentional disconnection under external force. In the event of pressure loss, the mould side can be released via a manual pilot port.

For the electrical connection, versions without contacting as well as variants with 12-pin contacting or M8 connector are available (depending on the model). Tool holders are also available; an auto-switch can recognise whether a tool side is docked. Robot adapters support mounting on different robots and flange/stem designs.
