The TCC1 from MagBot is a compact automatic tool changer for cobot applications with a payload of 5 kgf (49 N). It connects the robot-side master to the tool plate on the respective end-effector and enables the automated changing of various tools. For applications requiring multiple tools, additional tool plates can be purchased at a reasonable cost.

The switchable ferromagnetic technology requires only a short 24 V DC pulse for coupling and uncoupling. Depending on the model in the MagBot ATC series, this process takes between 200 and 400 ms; for the TCC1, the changeover time is 200 ms. No compressor is required for the changeover mechanism. Furthermore, no permanent holding power supply is required whilst the tool is engaged: the ferromagnetic circuit keeps the tool securely engaged even in the event of a power cut.

An integrated safety interlock prevents the tool plate from being released unintentionally. A magnetic sensor and a proximity sensor are used for status monitoring. The master can also be used as a magnetic gripper for ferromagnetic components. The repeatability is ±0.05 mm. The Master measures Ø 63 × 38 mm and weighs 448 g; the Tool Plate measures 63 × 63 × 19.4 mm and weighs 145 g. When coupled, the dimensions are 63 × 63 × 42 mm with a total weight of 593 g. Optional pogo pins and pneumatic adaptors enable the use of electric or pneumatic tools and grippers.

Contents of the package

The configured package consists of a master, a controller, a 4-metre cable, a 1-metre cable and two tool plates, including a rail bracket. Additional tool plates, pogo pins, pneumatic adaptors and other accessories can be ordered separately.
