The SAFE-DELAY from SALZ Automation is a functional safety module for monitoring emergency stop circuits up to SIL 3 with delayed switch-off contacts. It combines non-delayed and delayed safety contacts, enabling dangerous machine components to be switched off quickly in the event of an emergency. At the same time, other circuits can continue to be supplied with voltage for up to 30 seconds in order to bring machine components into a safe position or to brake overrunning parts.

The module offers two non-delayed and two delayed safety relay contacts, with the delay time adjustable between 1 and 30 seconds (fixed delay times also available). It is suitable for use in single or dual-channel emergency stop circuits and for monitoring protective devices on machines and systems in accordance with EN ISO 13849-1 and EN 62061. The device supports both automatic and manual starts as well as the monitoring of short circuits and ground faults.

The SAFE-DELAY is specially designed for installation in control cabinet environments with IP54 protection and can be mounted on a DIN rail (EN 60715). It ensures cyclical monitoring of the output contacts and automatic fault detection. The module is compatible with both mechanical and non-contact safety switches and supports safety elements with OSSD outputs.
