AIRSKIN for KUKA Quantec

AIRSKIN is a pressure-sensitive safety skin that transforms a KUKA Quantec industrial robot into a collaborative robot. The robot is stopped immediately on contact with the skin. By combining the soft skin with a high-performance industrial robot, a long reach as well as proven robustness and precision are achieved. At the same time, it enables collaborative operation and thus offers possibilities for fenceless automation.

With the AIRSKIN, the KUKA Quantec robot is the largest fenceless/collaborative robot on the market. It enables fenceless work processes at speeds of up to 2 m/s in free space. This eliminates the need for large safety fences, which frees up valuable floor space and can increase plant productivity.

Without disruptive fences, material flows can be quickly redirected and robots can flexibly switch to new tasks. This is particularly advantageous in production environments that are subject to constant change.
