The MG25 from MagBot is a magnetic gripper for the automated handling of ferromagnetic components. It is suitable for pick-and-place and transfer processes in which the workpiece is picked up directly via the magnetic poles. A separate vacuum system is not required for this.

The switchable magnetic technology requires electrical power for gripping and releasing. When in the gripped state, the permanent magnet structure secures the workpiece without a continuous power supply and maintains the holding force even in the event of a power failure. Full contact between the N/S pole surface and the workpiece is a prerequisite for the specified load capacity. Air gaps reduce the achievable holding force. A cylinder sensor for monitoring the switching status is available as an option.

The MG25 is designed for a load capacity of 25 kgf or 245 N and achieves a repeatability of ±0.05 mm. Its dimensions are Ø 92 × 62.5 mm, with a weight of 2,087 g. Gripping and releasing each take approximately 400 ms at 24 V and 5 A. The gripper can be used at temperatures ranging from −10 to 60 °C and relative humidity levels of 0 to 80 per cent, provided there is no condensation. The protection rating is IP45, with IP56 available as an option.
