The mDPG8S7 from MagBot is an electrically powered vacuum gripper for the automated handling of flat workpieces. The vacuum is generated by an integrated DC vacuum pump. As a result, the system requires no external compressor, no compressed air lines and no separate pneumatic circuit. It is controlled via a 24 V power supply and digital input and output signals.

The gripper can be configured with up to eight suction cups. The technical data sheet specifies a maximum payload of 13 kg or 127.49 N. The actual usable load capacity depends on the number and type of suction cups, the workpiece material and the surface condition. Uneven or porous surfaces can cause air leaks and reduce the holding force.

In the event of a power cut, the vacuum may be lost and the workpiece may fall. Depending on the application, a non-return valve, an emergency power supply or another form of fall protection should therefore be provided. Severe acceleration, abrupt stops and vibrations can also affect the holding force and should be taken into account when programming the robot.
