The mDPG1S1 from MagBot is an electrically powered vacuum gripper designed for the automated handling of flat, lightweight workpieces. It generates the required vacuum using an integrated DC vacuum pump and requires only a 24 V power supply and digital input and output signals. An external compressor, compressed air lines and a separate pneumatic control system are not required.

The gripper is suitable, amongst other things, for pick-and-place tasks as well as for handling before and after inspection processes. Its suction cup arrangement can be configured with one to four suction cups. According to the technical data sheet, the maximum payload is 1.5 kg. The actual payload achievable depends on the number, material and diameter of the suction cups, as well as on the surface of the workpiece. Uneven or porous surfaces can lead to air leaks and reduced holding force.

The mDPG1S1 measures 65 × 70 × 81 mm with the suction cup fitted and 65 × 70 × 66 mm without it. It weighs 0.62 kg. As a power cut may cause the vacuum – and thus the holding force – to be lost, suitable measures such as a non-return valve, an uninterruptible power supply or another fall protection device should be provided, depending on the application.
