The RGD-5-14 from DH Robotics is a direct-drive electric rotary gripper designed for automated handling, positioning and assembly tasks. The backlash-free rotary unit enables continuous rotation and features a rotational resolution of 0.01°. Intended applications include, amongst others, precise positioning, correction and adjustment processes in electronics and semiconductor manufacturing.

The model offers a gripping stroke of 14 mm and an adjustable gripping force of 2 to 5.5 N per gripping jaw. The nominal torque is 0.1 Nm, with a peak torque of 0.25 Nm. The maximum rotational speed is 1,500° per second. The manufacturer specifies a repeatability of ±0.1° for the rotational movement and ±0.02 mm for the gripping position. The recommended workpiece weight is up to 0.05 kg; opening and closing each take 0.5 seconds.

The gripping and rotary servos, as well as the control unit, are integrated into a single housing. Parameters can be adjusted, operating data can be reported back, and the fingertips can be replaced. Communication takes place via Modbus RTU over RS485, with a 24 V DC power supply. The RGD-5-14 measures 149 × 50 × 50 mm and weighs 0.86 kg without the brake or 0.88 kg with the optional brake. The device has an IP40 protection rating and is designed for ambient temperatures ranging from 0 to 40 °C.
